At least 5 Killed In Florida Shootout

A gunman barged into Sun Trust bank in Florida and opened fire killing at least 5 people on Wednesday. According to the Sebring Police Chief Karl Hoglund, the suspect Zephen Xaver called authorities to say that he entered the bank in Sebring (85 miles south of Orlando) and began shooting. Zephen is 21 years old.

The victims have not been identified yet, so the police authorities could not confirm if they are bank employees or the customers.

The incident reportedly happened at around 12:30 pm, with the phone call from the suspect-shooter himself, who said: "I have shot five people". The negotiations of Highlands Country Sheriff's office to make the suspect leave the bank premises were not successful, that forced the SWAT team to take control over negotiations.

The suspect later surrendered to the SWAT team at the bank and the FBI along with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement are still working on finding the motive.

Meanwhile, the suspect's father Josh Xaver says "I'm heartbroken for the victims" in a phone interview. He says his son was a good kid and had his own troubles, but has never hurt anyone ever before.

The suspect Zephen Xaver was employed as a correctional officer trainer at Avon Park Correctional Institution. He was hired on November 2 and reportedly resigned on January 9.
