Election icon Rahul Dravid cannot vote in LokSabha Polls

Former India captain and Karnataka election ambassador Rahul Dravid will not be able to cast his vote on April 18 for Lok Sabha elections.  The reason, Dravid got his name deleted in the old constituency but didn't get his name added in the new constituency list before the March 16th deadline.

Dravid's brother Vijay reportedly submitted Form 7, meant for deletion of names from the voters' list but the India U-19 coach failed to submit Form 6 to add his name to the electoral roll from his new residence.

While Form 7 can be submitted by any family member, Form 6 has to be submitted by the concerned voter for the inclusion of his/her name

According to reports in TOI, officials from the Mathikere sub-division AEO's (Assistant Electoral Returning Officer) had visited Rahul Dravid’s new home twice but were not allowed to meet anyone.

Dravid only realised about the omission after March 16th.

Speaking to a news channel, Karnataka CEO Sanjiv Kumar said, "Dravid got his name voluntarily deleted and forgot to include his name after moving to a new house. It is legally not possible to include his name now."
