Border 2 First Week Collections: The much-awaited war action drama Border 2 has created history at the box office within its opening days. Starring Sunny Deol in the lead, the film has successfully crossed the Rs 200 crore mark globally in just four days, emerging as one of the fastest Hindi films to achieve this milestone.
Produced by T-Series Films and JP Films, the film is directed by Anurag Singh. The project serves as a sequel to the iconic 1997 blockbuster Border, originally directed by JP Dutta, and is set against the backdrop of the 1971 India–Pakistan war.
Alongside Sunny Deol, the film features an ensemble cast including Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Sonam Bajwa, Sunil Shetty, Akshay Khanna, Sudesh Berry, Anya Singh, and Mona Singh. The technical crew includes cinematographer Anshul Chobey, editor Manish More, and background score composer John Stewart Eduri, while the film’s songs are composed by Anu Malik, Mithoon, and Vishal Mishra.
Released grandly on January 23 as a Republic Day festive offering, Border 2 was mounted on an estimated budget of around Rs 300 crore, including production, cast remunerations, and promotional expenses. The film was released on approximately 5,000 screens across India and nearly 7,000 screens worldwide, with a breakeven target of around Rs 250 crore.
At the domestic box office, the film opened strongly with Rs 30 crore on Day 1, followed by Rs 36.5 crore on Day 2 and Rs 54.5 crore on Day 3. Within three days, the film collected Rs 121 crore in India alone. Overseas markets including North America, the Middle East, the UK, and Australia also recorded impressive openings, contributing nearly Rs 30 crore in the first three days.
The film’s momentum continued on Day 4, aided by the Republic Day holiday. Trade reports suggest collections of over Rs 50 crore in India and around Rs 5 crore overseas on Monday. With this, Border 2 officially entered the Rs 200 crore club worldwide in just four days. Industry analysts indicate that the film has the potential to add another Rs 60 crore in the coming days if the trend continues.
