In early 2024, Fighter, starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone and directed by Siddharth Anand, was anticipated as a major blockbuster. Although it performed well with a global gross of ₹358.83 crore, it fell short of the record set by Pathaan in 2023. No other Bollywood film came close to its earnings until Shaitaan with ₹213.55 crore.

By August 2024, Stree 2 emerged as a surprise hit, defying expectations despite lacking major star power. While Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao had previous successful films, none had achieved significant box office figures. Stree 2, however, has surpassed expectations, earning ₹703.25 crore worldwide and outpacing Fighter. The film continues to perform well, earning ₹6.75 crore on its third Monday.

Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 has outperformed several major 2023 releases, including Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki (₹454 crore), Salman Khan's Tiger 3 (₹464 crore), and Sunny Deol's Gadar 2 (₹686 crore). It is now only behind Animal (₹915 crore), Pathaan (₹1,055 crore), and Jawan (₹1,160 crore).
