L2 Empuraan has become the first Malayalam film to earn Rs. 200 crores within just four days of its release. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film stars Mohanlal, Manju Warrier, and Tovino Thomas in key roles. Released on March 27, the movie has received positive reviews despite facing controversies over certain scenes related to the Godhra riots. The censor board made 17 cuts, and Mohanlal issued an apology, but the film has continued to perform strongly at the box office, surpassing the previous record held by Manjummal Boys.
