Dhanush’s Tere Ishk Mein races past Sitaare Zameen Par, Jolly LLB 3 in ticket sales

Aanand L. Rai’s forthcoming romantic drama Tere Ishk Mein is gearing up for an impressive start at the box office, with advance bookings showing remarkable momentum. The film, set in the universe of Raanjhanaa, reunites Dhanush with the director while pairing him opposite Kriti Sanon for the first time. Ticket sales opened earlier this week, and the pre-release buzz has only grown stronger, helping the film surpass the advance bookings of big releases such as Sitaare Zameen Par and Jolly LLB 3.

Advance Booking Performance

Industry trackers report that by 2 pm on Thursday—just a day before the theatrical release—the film had already sold more than 1.3 lakh tickets for opening day shows. This translates to a gross revenue of nearly ₹3 crore from advance sales. Trade circles expect the film to close the day with more than 1.5 lakh pre-booked tickets, pushing its opening-day advance revenue close to ₹4 crore.

The film has also been trending prominently on ticketing platforms like BookMyShow since Wednesday, indicating strong audience interest. For a romantic genre film, securing an advance of over ₹4 crore is considered highly encouraging and may help Tere Ishk Mein register an opening of ₹10 crore or more on Friday—an achievement only Saiyaara managed in this category earlier this year.

Surpassing Sitaare Zameen Par and Jolly LLB 3

Tere Ishk Mein marks Dhanush’s return to Hindi cinema after several years. His previous collaboration with Aanand L. Rai, Raanjhanaa, released more than a decade ago. Based on current figures, the new film is expected to deliver the biggest opening day of Dhanush’s Bollywood career.

With 1.3 lakh tickets already sold in advance, the film has overtaken the booking numbers of Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par (1.15 lakh) and Akshay Kumar’s Jolly LLB 3 (1.2 lakh). Although those films showed slightly higher revenue due to premium pricing, Tere Ishk Mein still has several hours of advance booking time remaining, giving it a strong chance to surpass those totals.
