Kanguva Box Office Day 1: Suriya's Film Earns Nearly Rs 40 Crore Globally

Kanguva Box Office Day 1

Suriya's fantasy action film Kanguva opened to mixed reviews but had a solid start at the box office. Despite technical delays on its first day, with early shows in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh pushed back by an hour, the film grossed around Rs 40 crore worldwide on November 14.

The movie, directed by Siva, earned approximately Rs 22 crore nett in India on its opening day. While this is decent, it's considered average for a film of its scale. The Tamil version saw a 37.25% occupancy, while the Hindi version struggled, with only 11.47% occupancy in the North.

Before its release, Kanguva had an aggressive promotional campaign targeting the Hindi-speaking audience, but the response was lukewarm. The film performed well in Kerala, with early bookings generating over Rs 4 crore in the state.

Kanguva stars Suriya in dual roles alongside Disha Patani, Bobby Deol, Natarajan Subramaniam, and others. The film was produced on a budget of Rs 300 crore by Studio Green and UV Creations, with music by Devi Sri Prasad and cinematography by Vetri Palanisamy.
