Thangalaan Set To Cross Rs 100 Crore Mark, Producers Confirm

Vikram's latest film, Thangalaan, is on track to gross Rs 100 crore at the global box office. Released on August 15, the film was written and directed by Pa. Ranjith. On its opening day, it collected Rs 26 crore, marking a career-best for Vikram.

According to the makers, the film has performed exceptionally well at the box office, even with the competition from various new releases in its second week. The film continues to hold strong in Tamil Nadu.

A statement from the producers noted, "In the Andhra-Telangana region, the total number of screens was significantly increased by 141."

The film's box office performance reflects its positive reception among diverse audiences. Thangalaan is also scheduled for release in North India on August 30, which is expected to further boost its collections. The film has already surpassed the break-even point for its producers.

Produced by Studio Green Films under K. E. Gnanavelraja, Thangalaan features Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Daniel Caltagirone, and Pasupathy. Set against the backdrop of the Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), the film is based on real-life events from the 18th and 19th centuries.

The musical score for Thangalaan is composed by the national award-winning G.V. Prakash Kumar. A sequel, tentatively titled Thangalaan 2, was announced on August 17, 2024. The sequel will see Pa. Ranjith returning as the director and Vikram reprising his role as Thangalaan Muni.
