Released amid massive anticipation, “Akhanda 2: Tandavam” finally arrived in theatres after a one-week delay. Serving as the sequel to the blockbuster Akhanda, the film is directed by Boyapati Srinu and features Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead role.

According to official figures shared by the makers, Akhanda 2 registered a remarkable first-day collection of ?59.5 crore, including premiere shows. The production house released a special poster to confirm the numbers. This achievement marks the highest opening-day collection in Balakrishna’s career to date.

The movie stars Samyuktha Menon as the female lead, while Harshaali Malhotra appears in a crucial role. The film’s music has been composed by Thaman S, adding powerful background scores to the narrative.

Story Overview

The narrative of Akhanda 2 picks up from the powerful conclusion of the first installment. After eliminating the antagonists, Akhanda Rudra (Balakrishna) retreats to the Himalayas, where he engages in deep meditation at the sacred Ashta Linga Peetham.

Parallelly, Murali Krishna (also portrayed by Balakrishna) is elected as an MLA and dedicates himself to public service. Following the tragic loss of his wife Saranya, he raises his daughter Janani (Harshaali Malhotra) with care. Janani grows up to become a scientist and leads a research team working in Himachal Pradesh on a mission aimed at national welfare. The entire operation is safeguarded by Army officer Archana (Samyuktha Menon).

As tensions rise, Opposition leader Ajit Thakur (Kabir Duhan Singh), who harbors ambitions of becoming Prime Minister, plots to destabilize the nation. He secretly collaborates with Chinese General Zhang Li (Sangya Sangay Tsheltrim). Their sinister plan revolves around crushing the people’s faith by proving that even divine power cannot protect them.

Using the Maha Kumbh Mela as a weapon, Ajit Thakur conspires to contaminate the sacred Ganga water, intending to spread a deadly virus across the country. The plot also targets the vaccine developed by Janani’s team, aiming to destroy it before it can save lives.
