The Raja Saab Box Office: Prabhas Film Beats Dhurandhar With ₹6 Cr Morning Shows

The Raja Saab has crossed the Rs 6 crore mark from its opening day morning shows alone, comfortably overtaking Dhurandhar at the Indian box office.

Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar enjoyed an extraordinary five-week run in theatres, creating new benchmarks as it consistently resisted competition from fresh releases and showed remarkable stability in daily earnings. However, every successful streak eventually ends, and it required the star power of Prabhas to bring this one to a close. The Telugu superstar latest release, The Raja Saab, has dethroned Dhurandhar as the highest-grossing film in India after 35 days. What makes this achievement even more notable is that it happened before 10 am on the film very first day in cinemas.

The Raja Saab opening day performance

The Raja Saab marks Prabhas return to the big screen after a two-year gap and is his first attempt at the horror comedy genre. Trade reports indicate that by 10 am on Friday, the day of release, the film had already earned more than Rs 6 crore net. These figures are drawn entirely from paid preview screenings held on Thursday evening along with early morning shows on Friday.

This early total has exceeded Dhurandhar full-day earnings from Thursday. The film directed by Aditya Dhar collected Rs 4.25 crore net on its 35th day in theatres. With this strong start, The Raja Saab is set to become the top film at the Indian box office, at least until Jana Nayagan arrives in cinemas.

The Raja Saab has been released in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. Industry analysts predict that the film could cross Rs 60 crore in domestic collections on its first day alone. The movie also benefited from a last-minute boost, as Jana Nayagan release was delayed, resulting in The Raja Saab securing around 250 additional screens across Tamil Nadu. With no major Tamil release on Friday, the film could outperform initial expectations in that market.

Meanwhile, Jana Nayagan received its CBFC clearance on Friday morning, clearing the path for its theatrical debut. Although the makers have not officially announced the release date, the film is expected to arrive before the Pongal festival to take advantage of the holiday period. That release could potentially end The Raja Saab reign at the top. For now, however, it continues to dominate the domestic box office.

About The Raja Saab

Directed by Maruthi, The Raja Saab features an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, Riddhi Kumar, Boman Irani, and Zarina Wahab. The film hit theatres on January 9, just ahead of the Sankranti festive weekend. It also signals Prabhas return to the family-oriented entertainer space after a series of action-heavy projects.
