Alia Bhatt and the Jigra Box Office Controversy

Alia Bhatt Jigra controversy

Alia Bhatt's film Jigra, directed by Vasan Bala, is facing backlash due to its poor box office performance and plagiarism allegations. With a production budget of Rs 80 crore (plus Rs 10 crore for publicity), the film opened to just Rs 4.25 crore, marking Alia's lowest debut in a decade. It has earned about Rs 19.35 crore in five days, raising concerns about reaching break-even. Bhatt reportedly earned Rs 10 to Rs 15 crore for the film, while other cast members' earnings remain uncertain.

The plot follows Alia's character, Satya, as she attempts to save her wrongly convicted brother, Ankur. The film has drawn criticism for similarities to Divya Khosla Kumar’s Savi, but the filmmakers have not addressed these allegations.
