Ballerina trailer
Set in the John Wick universe, the film follows Macarro's transformation into a lethal assassin seeking vengeance for her father's death at the hands of a ruthless group of hitmen. Unlike John Wick, whose quest for revenge was triggered by the loss of his pet, Macarro's mission is rooted in her traumatic childhood.
The trailer captures the signature John Wick style, brimming with tension, action, and a compelling backstory. It features familiar faces, including Ian McShane as Winston, who recruits the young Macarro, and the late Lance Reddick reprising his role as Charon. Anjelica Huston appears as the Director, and head of the Ruska Roma.
Winston introduces Macarro to a unique training program at the Continental Hotel, where she learns ballet while honing her assassin skills. A pivotal lesson from her instructor emphasizes the need to "improvise, adapt, cheat" to succeed in her dangerous new life.
In a memorable moment, the trailer concludes with Macarro meeting her idol, John Wick. She asks him, “How do I start doing what you do?” to which he replies, “Looks like you already have.”
Originally slated for a June 2024 release, Ballerina was postponed to allow director Chad Stahelski to collaborate more closely with Len Wiseman on refining the film's action sequences, ensuring it meets the franchise's high standards. Alongside de Armas, the cast includes Gabriel Byrne, Catalina Sandino Moreno, and Norman Reedus.
