Bollywood Star Manoj Kumar Dies at 87

Bollywood actor and director Manoj Kumar, aged 87, has passed away while undergoing treatment at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Hospital in Mumbai due to illness and old age. Known for his iconic patriotic films, Manoj Kumar retired from acting in 1999. He earned numerous accolades, including the National Film Award, Padma Shri, and the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1992. In 2015, the Government of India honored him with the highest award for his contribution to Indian cinema and arts.

Born on July 24, 1937, Manoj Kumar gained fame for directing films like Shaheed (1965), Upkar (1967), Purab Aur Paschim (1970), and Roti Kapda Aur Makan (1974). He was also known as "Bharat Kumar" for his memorable role in Upkar. Over his career, he acted in numerous films, including Hariyali Aur Rasta, Wo Kaun Thi, Himalaya Ki Gaad Mein, Do Badan, Pattar Ke Sanam, Neel Kamal, and Ranti.
