Deepika Padukone Criticizes L And T Chairman's Controversial Remarks On Sunday Work

Deepika Padukone Slams L And T Chairman for His Stance on Employee Work Hours

Deepika Padukone has criticized Larsen & Toubro chairman SN Subrahmanyan for his controversial remarks about workplace culture, particularly his suggestion that employees should work on Sundays. Subrahmanyan’s comments, made during an employee interaction, included expressing regret that he couldn't make employees work on Sundays and questioning how they spend their downtime at home. His remarks, which implied that employees should be constantly working, sparked backlash online.

Deepika, a strong mental health advocate, responded to the comments on social media, writing, “Shocking to see people in such senior positions make such statements. #MentalHealthMatters.” She has been vocal about mental health awareness, having battled depression herself, and founded the Live Love Laugh Foundation to destigmatize mental health issues in India.

In response to the controversy, a spokesperson from Larsen & Toubro emphasized the company’s commitment to nation-building and expressed that the chairman's comments were meant to encourage dedication towards progress, not to undermine employees' well-being.
