Before marrying Aishwarya Rai in 2007, Abhishek Bachchan was engaged to actress Karisma Kapoor. They fell in love during the filming of Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya and got engaged in 2002 in a grand ceremony. However, the engagement was later called off without any public explanation.

Karisma went on to marry businessman Sanjay Kapoor in 2003, but they divorced in 2016. She recently revealed that the broken engagement led to a difficult phase in her life, during which her family supported her.
