This legal issue arises from the production of explicit scenes in Season 6 of the adult web series Gandii Baat, which aired on Ekta's Alt Balaji platform. Reports indicate that the controversial content featured minor actresses in inappropriate situations. The series was available for streaming between February and April 2021. Following a formal complaint, the MHB Police Station in Mumbai filed charges against the Kapoors under sections 295-A of the IPC, the IT Act, and sections 13 and 15 of the POCSO Act.

Notably, the disputed episode is no longer accessible on the Alt Balaji app. This controversy follows Ekta's recent comments on the need to protect women in the film industry after the release of the Hema Committee report.
