Jaya Bachchan on Aishwarya Rai: 'She's my daughter-in-law, not my daughter'

In a viral throwback video, Jaya Bachchan candidly discusses her relationship with daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. When asked if she was strict with Aishwarya after her marriage to Abhishek Bachchan, Jaya responded that as a mother-in-law, it's not her role to be strict, leaving that responsibility to Aishwarya's mother. She emphasized the difference between a daughter and a daughter-in-law, noting that daughters tend to take their parents for granted, while in-laws are treated with more respect.

Jaya also mentioned that while she was strict with her own children, she doesn't feel the need to be the same with Aishwarya, adding, "She’s not my daughter! She’s my daughter-in-law." Despite this, Abhishek Bachchan has previously stated that Jaya and Aishwarya share a close bond, with Jaya helping Aishwarya adjust to her new family.
