Kangana Ranaut's Emergency Movie Release Date Delay

Emergency movie release date

Kangana Ranaut's film Emergency, in which she portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, has been postponed once again. Initially scheduled for release on November 24 last year, the film faced multiple delays and was set to release today, September 6. However, due to pending certification from the Censor Board, the release has been further delayed. Kangana announced the postponement on X Vediga and mentioned that a new release date will be announced soon.

The film, depicting the political climate during the Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi in 1972, has faced criticism from the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee for potentially offending Sikh sentiments. Some argue that the film overlooks significant events such as Operation Blue Star and the Akal Takht Sahib bombing. Additionally, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has raised concerns about sensitive content in the film, contributing to the delay in its certification.

Emergency features Anupam Kher as Jayaprakash Narayan and Shreyas Talpade as former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Produced by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films, the film also stars Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, and others in key roles.
