The first-look clip of Akka, starring Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte, was revealed at a Netflix event in Mumbai. Set in the 1980s in the fictional South Indian city of Pernuru, the show explores a matriarchal society where women hold all the power. The story follows the rise of gangster queens whose authority is challenged by an outsider, leading to a violent battle for survival.

Akshaye Widhani, CEO of Yash Raj Films, expressed excitement over the ambitious projects Akka and Mandala Murders, marking the next chapter of Netflix and YRF's partnership. Directed by Dharmaraj Shetty, Akka features an impressive cast, including Keerthy Suresh, Radhika Apte, and Tanvi Azmi.

Keerthy Suresh was recently seen in Baby John, her Bollywood debut, and married her longtime partner in December 2024. Radhika Apte, last seen in Merry Christmas (2024), recently welcomed her first child with husband Benedict Taylor.
