Phule Movie Postponed Amid Controversy And Brahmin Community Opposition
The release of the Phule movie, based on Jyotirao Phule's life, has been postponed due to opposition from the Brahmin community.

The Bollywood film Phule, based on the life of social reformer Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and his wife Savitribai Phule, has faced obstacles leading to its release postponement. Prateek Gandhi stars as Jyotirao Phule, while Patralekha plays Savitribai. Directed by Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, the film was initially set for release on April 11. However, due to opposition from the Brahmin community, who claim the film misrepresents them and promotes casteism, the release has been delayed. The Censor Board also suggested removing caste-related terms. Despite these challenges, director Anant Mahadevan has defended the film, stating it is based on historical facts. The movie is now set to be released on April 25, 2025.
