Actor Ranbir Kapoor has revealed that he initially declined the role of Lord Ram in Ramayana, directed by Nitish Tiwari.

Speaking in a recent interview, the actor shared that when producer Namit Malhotra first approached him with the role nearly four years ago, he refused the offer. Ranbir stated that he felt unworthy of portraying such a revered character and was uncertain about doing justice to the role.

However, his perspective changed over time, particularly after becoming a father to his daughter, Raha Kapoor. He explained that fatherhood influenced his mindset and encouraged him to take on the challenge.

Ranbir noted that opportunities of this magnitude are rare, and he decided to overcome his fears and embrace the role with confidence. He also mentioned that portraying an ideal character like Lord Ram could contribute to his personal growth.

The film Ramayana is being produced on a grand scale, featuring high-end visual effects and a substantial budget. Actress Sai Pallavi will portray the role of Sita in the film.

The first installment of the film is scheduled for a worldwide release during the Diwali festive season.
