Robert De Niro Anne Hathaways The Intern
The Intern, written and produced by Nancy Meyers, tells the story of a 70-year-old man, played by Robert De Niro, who becomes a senior intern at an online fashion company. Anne Hathaway stars as the companys CEO, forming an unlikely friendship with De Niros character. Despite mixed reviews, the film received notable praise, including being called Oscar-worthy by Quentin Tarantino, who particularly commended De Niros performance and Meyers script.
In 2022, the movie inspired a Japanese TV show remake titled Unicorn ni Notte or Riding a Unicorn, with Hidetoshi Nishijima and Mei Nagano taking on the roles originally played by De Niro and Hathaway. Meanwhile, Bollywood had also planned a Hindi remake, announced by Deepika Padukone in April 2021, where she was to star alongside Amitabh Bachchan. However, the project faced delays due to the pandemic and other commitments from the lead actors.
As of January 2024, reports suggest that the Hindi remake is gaining momentum and is expected to begin production later in the year, following Deepika Padukones pregnancy. Fans remain hopeful for the much-anticipated remake, especially after Deepika and Amitabhs recent collaboration in Kalki 2898 AD, though no official updates on the project have been released yet.
