Shabad Reet Aur Riwaaz ZEE5 Series: Punjab Family Drama on Faith and Identity

A Hindi-language drama set in Punjab, Shabad – Reet Aur Riwaaz delves into heritage, belief, and family bonds. The original series was officially announced by ZEE5 Global on January 13, 2026. The family-focused drama spans six episodes and features Suvinder Vicky and Mihir Ahuja in the roles of a father and son residing in Punjab. Mahi Raj and Taranjit Kaur portray the son’s sister and mother.

The series is backed by Rusk Media and is directed by Ameet Guptha. Taking place within a tightly bonded household influenced by spirituality and long-standing customs, the narrative follows Ghuppi, a teenage boy who struggles with a stammer yet aspires to become a football player. His dreams clash with the wishes of his father, a well-known Ragi singer determined to pass down the family’s musical tradition.

At its heart, the story highlights the emotional struggle between inherited responsibility and individual aspiration. It portrays themes of self-discovery, anxiety, and bravery as Ghuppi deals with his speech difficulty and the weight of expectations placed upon him. The series charts his journey toward self-expression within a home deeply rooted in sacred music and time-honored beliefs.

Kaveri Das, chief channel officer for &TV and business head for Hindi ZEE5, stated that the show aligns with the platform’s commitment to culturally grounded family narratives. She explained that the drama explores the emotional conflicts that surface when traditional ideals confront a younger generation’s wish to make independent choices, noting that the Punjab backdrop adds emotional and cultural depth.

Producer Mayank Yadav of Rusk Media shared that the creative team aimed to make Shabad – Reet Aur Riwaaz feel authentic and relatable. He described the contrast between a family’s musical heritage and a young boy’s passion for sports as a common and realistic household experience. The series is set to premiere soon on ZEE5 Global.
