Suniel Shetty explains why he rejects most South film offers and negative roles

Suniel Shetty

Suniel Shetty recently opened up about why he rarely signs films from the South Indian film industries. Proud of his Mangalorean roots, the actor shared that he does receive offers from the South, but most of them position Hindi film actors in negative or villainous roles — something he does not prefer.

Speaking in an interview with The Lallantop, Suniel explained that there is a noticeable pattern where Bollywood stars are approached mainly to play antagonists because filmmakers believe it adds strength and impact to the screen. He said this is the primary reason he turns down many proposals.

Suniel also recalled his appearance as the villain in Rajinikanth’s film Darbar. He clarified that he agreed to that specific role only because collaborating with Rajinikanth had always been a dream he wanted to fulfill.
