Renowned tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain passed away at the age of 73 in the US on Sunday, after battling serious heart-related complications. Son of legendary tabla player Ustad Alla Rakha Khan, he began his musical journey at the age of 7 and gained global recognition for his mastery and contributions to Indian classical music. With a career spanning over six decades, Zakir Hussain composed and performed for numerous films and albums, collaborating with both Indian and international music legends. He received several prestigious awards, including the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan, and was honored with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1990. Tributes have poured in from around the world following his passing.
