Saif Ali Khan’s Attacker Traced to West Bengal Woman’s Lost SIM Card

In the latest update on the Saif Ali Khan attack and robbery case, Mumbai Police traced the SIM card used by the attacker, Shariful Islam, to a woman in West Bengal. The woman claimed she had lost her cellphone, which was used by the Bangladeshi national to make calls to his family in Bangladesh.

Shariful Islam arrested three days after breaking into Saif Ali Khan's apartment, was found to have entered India illegally last year. He attacked the actor during a robbery attempt, using a hacksaw blade and knife. Police confirmed that Shariful was the attacker and are continuing their investigation, visiting locations in West Bengal where he stayed after crossing into India.

The investigation revealed that Shariful had been using a SIM card registered under the name Khukumoni Jahangir Sekh, and police traced his Bangladeshi identity through his call records. Shariful later confirmed his nationality after his family provided his school leaving certificate.
