YRF Confirms Alpha Release on July 10, 2026 Alia Bhatt-Sharvari Lead Spy Film
Yash Raj Films (YRF) has officially confirmed a new theatrical release date for its upcoming action film Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari. The studio clarified that the movie will arrive in cinemas on July 10, 2026, dismissing widespread speculation about a direct digital release.
The film has generated significant anticipation since it was announced as the first female-led installment in the YRF Spy Universe. Initially expected to release in December last year, the project was later rescheduled to April 17, 2026 due to additional work required for visual effects. The production house has now finalized July 10, 2026 as the official release date.
New Poster Confirms Theatrical Release
On Monday, Yash Raj Films unveiled a new poster of Alpha on Instagram, confirming its theatrical debut. The poster offers a glimpse of Alia Bhatt’s character, showing visible injuries on her face and arm, hinting at the intense action narrative of the film.
The poster also highlights the main cast members, including Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol. Importantly, the announcement clearly states “10.07.26 – Only in cinemas,” effectively putting an end to rumours suggesting that the film might premiere directly on OTT platforms.
Fans quickly reacted to the announcement on social media, sharing their excitement about the project. Many users expressed eagerness to watch the film, while others praised the decision to release it exclusively in theatres.
Earlier, a spokesperson from Yash Raj Films also addressed the OTT speculation in a statement to Variety India, emphasizing that the studio remains committed to delivering cinematic experiences on the big screen. The spokesperson described Alpha as a major tentpole project within the company’s theatrical lineup.
About the Film
Alpha is directed by Shiv Rawail, who previously worked on projects such as The Railway Men, Fan, and Dhoom 3. A significant portion of the film has reportedly been shot in Kashmir.
Actor Bobby Deol is expected to portray the primary antagonist in the story. According to early details, his character initially trains Alia Bhatt’s character before eventually becoming her adversary.
Interestingly, audiences were given an early hint of the project in the post-credit scene of War 2. In the scene, Bobby Deol makes a brief appearance, officially introducing his character into the expanding Spy Universe. The sequence shows him stamping the logo of an agency on a young girl’s hand and explaining the meaning behind the term “Alpha.”
He describes Alpha as the first letter of the Greek alphabet, representing the program’s motto: “The first, the fastest, the strongest.”
This moment sparked online discussions, with many fans speculating that the young girl might represent a younger version of Alia Bhatt’s character in the upcoming film.
With its strong cast and connection to the YRF Spy Universe, Alpha is expected to be one of the most anticipated Bollywood releases of 2026.
