Why Did Aamir Khan Face Death Threats After Satyamev Jayate? Imran Khan Reveals
Actor Imran Khan recalls how Aamir Khan received death threats after hosting Satyamev Jayate, especially following episodes on sensitive social issues.

Actor Aamir Khan has always been vocal about his beliefs and viewpoints, which has often invited criticism. At times, this opposition has gone beyond public debate and entered his personal space. In a recent interview, his nephew and actor Imran Khan spoke about an incident when Aamir received death threats, not because of a movie, but due to his television show Satyamev Jayate.
When Aamir Khan Received Death Threats
During a conversation on Unfiltered with Samdish, Imran Khan reflected on Aamir’s personality and choices. He said that having known Aamir all his life, he trusts that every project Aamir commits his time and energy to is guided by sincerity and honest intent. Imran recalled that an episode of Satyamev Jayate focusing on female infanticide deeply upset certain sections of society, leading to serious threats against Aamir.
Satyamev Jayate, hosted by Aamir Khan, aired from 2012 to 2014 and consisted of 25 episodes. Each episode addressed a different social concern, bringing together survivors, activists, experts, and public figures to discuss pressing issues. The show highlighted subjects such as female foeticide, child abuse, sexual violence, honour killings, domestic abuse, caste-based discrimination, social exclusion, acceptance of different sexual identities, toxic masculinity, alcohol addiction, and the criminalization of politics.
Speaking humorously about the controversies that often surround his uncle, Imran joked that people have been trying for years to push Aamir out of the country, suggesting that such backlash has become almost routine for him.
Aamir Khan’s Recent Projects
Aamir Khan was most recently seen in his home production Sitaare Zameen Par, a follow-up to Taare Zameen Par. The film performed moderately well at the box office, collecting over Rs 250 crore worldwide. He also made a special appearance in Happy Patel, the directorial debut of Vir Das, which marked Imran Khan’s return to acting after a gap of ten years. Earlier, all three had worked together on Delhi Belly in 2012.
