Why Was Drishyam 3s Teaser Suddenly Blocked at the Last Minute?

Fans eagerly awaiting the teaser for Drishyam 3, initially scheduled for release on October 2, were stunned when it did not appear as planned. The sudden postponement has left followers of the Ajay Devgn-starrer franchise both puzzled and disappointed.

Officially, the producers stated that the teaser’s background score was not yet ready. However, sources from the industry hint at deeper issues. Conflicts between the Hindi production team and the original Malayalam creators are said to have caused the last-minute stoppage.

Insiders reveal that a fully completed teaser, lasting one minute and twenty-five seconds, was ready to be launched. Yet, a contractual obligation between the two production groups prevented its public release without prior approval.

Per the agreement, the Hindi producers are required to get approval from director Jeethu Joseph and producer Antony Perumbavoor before making significant announcements related to the franchise. This clause is designed to maintain creative consistency across all versions of the film.

The trouble reportedly started when the Hindi team revealed Drishyam 3’s release date—October 2, 2026—soon after the Malayalam version starring Mohanlal began filming. This early disclosure violated the contract, prompting the original creators to block the teaser.

Creative control issues have also contributed to the tension. Originally, Jeethu Joseph was intended to direct all versions—Malayalam, Hindi, and Telugu—to ensure a cohesive global release. However, following the huge success of Drishyam 2, plans changed.

Producer Kumar Mangat Pathak reportedly chose to hand over direction of the Hindi sequel to his son, Abhishek Pathak. This shift in creative authority widened the rift between the teams, turning what was initially a collaborative franchise into a more competitive scenario.

As a result, both versions of Drishyam 3 are now moving forward independently, leaving the release schedule uncertain. In a twist of irony, the behind-the-scenes disputes are proving to be nearly as intense as the suspense the series is famous for.
