Actor Darshan To Be Transferred To Bellary Prison Amid VIP Treatment Controversy

Darshan Thoogudeepa Bellary Jail transfer

Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, implicated in the Renukaswamy murder case, is set to be moved to Bellary Jail after a photograph showing him socializing with known criminals at Parappana Agrahara Central Jail emerged. The 24th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court ordered Darshan's transfer due to concerns about preferential treatment.

Other accused Pawan, Raghavendra, and Nandish—will be relocated to Mysore Jail, while Jagdish will move to Shivamogga Jail, and Dhanraj to Dharwad Jail. Actress Pavitra Gowda will remain in Bangalore Jail.

Three special teams are investigating the preferential treatment. Karnataka Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda criticized the special privileges, calling for accountability for the officials involved. Following the controversy and a photo of Darshan with a cup and cigarette, the Karnataka government suspended seven prison officials and directed the immediate transfer of Darshan and the other accused. Minister G Parameshwara called the incident a lapse and assured that such issues would not recur.
