I Didn’t Think I Would Come Back: Shiva Rajkumar Opens Up on Cancer Battle

Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India: Kannada film star Shiva Rajkumar recently traveled to Chennai to promote his upcoming movie 45. During the event, he spoke openly about his battle with cancer and the difficult days surrounding his surgery. Reflecting on that phase of his life, he admitted, “I never believed I would return.” He expressed deep gratitude toward the medical team, saying they gave him a second life, almost like a divine blessing.

He shared that he went to the United States in December last year to undergo treatment and described that period as the most emotionally overwhelming time he had ever experienced. He regained awareness nearly five hours after the operation. Speaking about a deeply personal moment, he recalled telling his wife that he wondered whether he would ever be able to hold her hand again. His recovery was gradual, and it took time for him to regain normalcy.

Shiva Rajkumar said that the moment he arrived back in India, emotions overtook him. He became tearful whenever people called to check on his health. He remarked that such genuine affection is rare, stating that while wealth can be earned, winning the love of the audience is far more difficult. He also revealed that a documentary highlighting his courageous fight against cancer will be produced.

Meanwhile, 45, directed by Arjun Janya, is scheduled for release in Kannada on January 25, 2026, and in Telugu on January 1, 2026. The film features prominent roles by Upendra and Raj B Shetty. In addition, Shiva Rajkumar will be seen in a significant role in Ram Charan’s forthcoming film Peddi, which is expected to hit theaters on March 27 next year.
