Kantara: Chapter 1, directed by Rishab Shetty and produced by Vijay Kiragandur and Chaluve Gowda under Hombale Films, has sold its OTT rights to Amazon Prime Video for Rs 125 crore, making it one of the biggest digital deals for a Kannada film after KGF 2.

The prequel explores the mythological roots of the Bhuta Kola tradition in coastal Karnataka, with post-production handled by 20 VFX studios worldwide to create a grand cinematic experience.

The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 2, 2025, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti, and the official trailer is expected around September 20.

Punjabi actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh will record a song for the film, marking a major Pan-India collaboration to expand its reach in North India, with a North India release under AA Films.
