Ranveer Singh FIR News
An FIR has been registered against Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh at the High Grounds Police Station in Bengaluru following allegations that he mocked the sacred Daiva Kola tradition depicted in the Kannada blockbuster film Kantara.
The controversy traces back to an incident at the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2025 in Goa, where Ranveer Singh and Kantara actor Rishab Shetty were present. During the event, Ranveer Singh allegedly mimicked certain gestures associated with Rishab Shetty’s character from Kantara, which many viewers perceived as disrespectful to the traditional Daiva Kola ritual.
Bengaluru-based advocate Prashant Methal filed a private complaint, stating that the actor’s actions hurt the religious sentiments of crores of Hindus, particularly members of the Tulu community for whom the Daiva Kola tradition holds deep cultural and spiritual significance
After hearing the petition, the Bengaluru Magistrate’s Court directed the police to register a case. Acting on the court’s order, the High Grounds police have officially registered an FIR and initiated further proceedings in the matter.
