Drishyam 3 Begins Shooting Amid Mohanlal's Phalke Award Win

Malayalam |

Drishyam 3 begins filming with Mohanlal reprising his role. Director Jeethu Joseph says the film explores Georgekutty's family, not aiming to outdo previous installments.

Drishyam 3 began production Monday at Sree Narayana Law College in Kochi, with Mohanlal returning as Georgekutty and Jeethu Joseph directing. The launch comes two days after Mohanlal was named the Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner, only the second Malayali to receive it.

Producer Antony Perumbavoor said the timing adds significance, as the franchise is a landmark in Malayalam cinema and has inspired remakes in multiple languages.

Jeethu Joseph clarified that the film focuses on Georgekutty’s family years later, not on being bigger than previous films. The release date will be decided after shooting and post-production.

Mohanlal will receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award on September 23 at the 71st National Film Awards in New Delhi.
