ED Raids Chennai Office Of L2 Empuraan Producer Gokulam Gopalan 1,000 Crore Case

Enforcement Directorate Raids 'L2: Empuraan' Producers in Rs 1,000 Crore Case

The Enforcement Directorate raided Gokul Chit Fund offices in Tamil Nadu and Kerala linked to the Malayalam film L2: Empuraan over a Rs 1,000 crore foreign exchange violation. The investigation follows controversy surrounding the film's indirect reference to the 2002 Gujarat riots and its critique of central agencies.

In response to protests, the production team made 17 cuts, including removing sensitive scenes. Despite this, the film grossed over Rs 80 crore in its first week. Mohanlal apologized for any distress caused, and the film continues to spark political debates, with Congress and Left parties supporting it, while the BJP criticized its portrayal.
