Indian Army Chief Honours Mohanlal for Exceptional Service and Dedication

Wayanad, Kerala, India: Mohanlal, one of India’s most celebrated actors, has received a distinguished recognition from the Indian Army. The honour was conferred by General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff, acknowledging Mohanlal’s exceptional contributions to society and his longstanding engagement with the Armed Forces. The actor was awarded the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card during a ceremony held on Tuesday.

According to Army officials, the citation was presented to Mohanlal in recognition of his dedication to service, generosity, and profound respect for the Army. In an official statement, the Army noted that the accolade highlights his unwavering support for the Armed Forces, particularly in nation-building initiatives and humanitarian relief efforts. His involvement in Soldiers’ Honour Programmes, encouragement of youth to consider military careers, and efforts to raise awareness about the Army’s societal role were specially commended.

“Seva… Through his actions, Mohanlal embodies the spirit of ‘Nation First Duty’. This honour is a tribute to his dedication,” the Army remarked.

Beyond his cinematic achievements, Mohanlal also holds the rank of Honorary Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Territorial Army, a position he has held since May 2009. Over the years, he has maintained a close connection with the Army, reflecting values of national service, discipline, and patriotism. During the devastating floods in Wayanad, Kerala, in August 2024, he personally contributed to relief efforts, demonstrating his commitment to serving the community.

Mohanlal actively conducts social initiatives across India through his non-profit organization, Vishwa Shanti Foundation, which focuses on education, healthcare, skill development, and environmental conservation.
