L2 Empuraan Producer Antony Perumbavoor Gets IT Notice

Antony Perumbavoor Receives Income Tax Notice Amid L2 Empuraan Controversy

L2 Empuraan producer Antony Perumbavoor received an Income Tax notice, following a similar notification sent to the film's director, Prithviraj Sukumaran. The Income Tax Department raided multiple homes, including those of Prithviraj, Perumbavoor, and other prominent producers, in an inquiry into potential tax evasion in the Malayalam film industry.

The raids, part of an ongoing investigation into financial transactions from 2019 to 2022, have sparked speculation that they may be linked to political controversy surrounding L2 Empuraan. The movie has faced criticism from right-wing groups and the BJP for its portrayal of the 2002 Gujarat riots, leading to voluntary edits in the film. Despite this, L2 Empuraan has achieved significant success at the box office, earning Rs. 98.36 crore.
