Malayalam Film Actor T.P. Madhavan Passes Away

T.P. Madhavan, a veteran actor in Malayalam cinema, has died at the age of 88 while receiving treatment for age-related issues at a private hospital in Kollam, where he had been on a ventilator.

Madhavan was a significant figure in the film industry, serving as secretary of the Malayalam Movie Artists' Association, AMMA, from 1994 to 1997, and as joint secretary from 2000 to 2006. He debuted in 1975 with "Raagam" and appeared in over a hundred films, gaining acclaim for his roles in titles like "Nadodikkattu," "Sandesham," and "Udayananu Tharam."

Born in Trivandrum as the eldest son of N.P. Pillai and Saraswathi, Madhavan was well-educated, completing a postgraduate degree in sociology. He initially worked for an English newspaper before founding an advertising agency. He was married to Sudha, with whom he had two children: Bollywood director Raja Krishna Menon and daughter Devika.

His funeral will be held tomorrow evening at Saanthi Kavadam in Thiruvananthapuram, where family, friends, and fans will pay their respects.
