Malayalam Film Vadakkan Makes History
The Malayalam film Vadakkan made history by winning the Best Supernatural Thriller Award at the Fright Night Film Festival, marking the first such honor for a Malayalam film.

Directed by Sajeed A., the Malayalam film Vadakkan won the Best Supernatural Thriller Award at the Fright Night Film Festival on September 28, making it the first Malayalam film to receive this honor. The screenplay, penned by Unni R., features Kishore Kumar G and Shruthy Menon, along with Merin Philip, Meenakshi Unnikrishnan, and Aryan Kataria.
Vadakkan was showcased at the Cannes Film Festival’s March du Film Fantastic Pavilion and selected for the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival. Notable attendees included sound designer Resul Pookutty and cinematographer Keiko Nakahara.
Based on Dravidian myths, the film utilizes advanced digital technology for its graphics and visuals. Producer Jaideep Singh aims to redefine Indian cinema by blending international narratives with local culture, emphasizing the film's cultural heritage and global appeal.
