Mohanlal Honoured by Kerala Government with Prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award

Mohanlal Felicitated by Kerala Govt for Dadasaheb Phalke Award

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India: Malayalam cinema icon Mohanlal has been felicitated by the Kerala government in recognition of his remarkable achievement of winning the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, considered the pinnacle honour in Indian cinema.

During the ceremony, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan lauded Mohanlal as a source of pride for every Malayali. He acknowledged the actor’s significant contributions to both the artistic and commercial success of Malayalam films.

Following the legendary filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan, who received the award in 2004, Mohanlal’s achievement marks a momentous return of this highest honour to Kerala after nearly twenty years. Mohanlal expressed that receiving the award in his native state held far deeper emotional value than being presented it in Delhi.

“These surroundings, the places I grew up in, and these cherished memories are deeply embedded in my heart. Such sentiments cannot simply be acted upon,” Mohanlal remarked. He dedicated the award to the Malayalam film industry and to all the fans who have consistently supported him throughout his career.

The felicitation event also featured cultural programs showcasing songs from Mohanlal’s popular films. Earlier, Mohanlal had received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award from President Droupadi Murmu during the 71st National Film Awards ceremony, held in Delhi on September 23, 2025.
