Mohanlal's Thudarum Movie Accused Of Plagiarism By Filmmaker Sanal Kumar

Mohanlal’s Thudarum, released on April 25, became a box office hit but is now facing plagiarism claims. Filmmaker Sanal Kumar Sasidharan alleged that the film was based on his shelved project, Theeyattam, written in 2020. He claimed the movie's plot, involving a driver wrongly framed for murder, closely mirrors his screenplay.

In a Facebook post, Sanal accused the makers of copying the "skeleton" of his story, citing the use of a unique dialogue from his script as proof. He revealed that his screenplay had been shared with actors like Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, and others. Sanal announced plans to publish his screenplay on Facebook to highlight the similarities.

Thudarum, a crime thriller directed by Tharun Moorthy and produced by M. Renjith, stars Mohanlal, Shobana, and others. Following its successful run in theatres, Thudarum made its digital debut on JioHotstar on May 30.
