Malayalam actor Siddique was arrested by the police in connection with a rape case. However, he was granted bail within hours of his arrest. On Friday, Siddique appeared before the investigative agency for questioning regarding the case, during which he was taken into custody. After undergoing medical examinations, he was produced before the court, where he was granted bail and subsequently released. The Supreme Court had previously granted him interim bail in November. However, with the expiration of the bail period, Siddique's arrest has sparked widespread discussion across the film industry and the state.

The Hema Committee Report, which highlights the challenges faced by women in the Malayalam film industry, has shaken the sector. Several actresses have come forward with allegations against prominent directors and producers. Among these, actress Revathi Sampath accused Siddique of raping her at a government hotel in Thiruvananthapuram in 2016. The allegations have brought significant attention to the issues within the industry.

In response to Revathy's accusations, Siddique filed a complaint with the DGP, claiming that she was deliberately tarnishing his reputation and dignity. He alleged that she had plotted against him and mentioned that she had made similar allegations on multiple occasions in the past. Siddique sought legal recourse by applying for anticipatory bail. Although the Kerala High Court rejected his plea, the Supreme Court later granted him anticipatory bail.
