Mohanlal’s 2005 comedy-drama Udayananu Tharam is set for a theatrical re-release on June 20. Directed by Rosshan Andrrews and written by Sreenivasan, the film was a major box office hit and remains a fan favorite for its sharp take on the film industry.

Starring Mohanlal as Udayabhanu, an aspiring director, and Sreenivasan as the cunning Rajappan (later superstar Saroj Kumar), the film follows the challenges of a filmmaker betrayed by his friend who steals his script. Despite the betrayal, Udayabhanu eventually succeeds, leading to dramatic and humorous consequences.

Udayananu Tharam also features Meena, Jagathy Sreekumar, Mukesh, and others. The movie is currently streaming on Manorama Max, and its return to cinemas is expected to be welcomed by Malayalam cinema lovers. A spin-off film, Padmasree Bharat Sreenivasan returned to the screen by stepping back into his iconic character, Saroj Kumar, once again.
