Why Did Pinarayi Vijayan Criticise The Kerala Story 2? Kerala CM’s Reaction Explained

Pinarayi Vijayan

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India:  Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has strongly criticised the upcoming film "The Kerala Story 2." Similar objections were raised during the release of the first installment, "The Kerala Story," and now the sequel has also sparked controversy.

Vijayan voiced serious concerns regarding the film, stating that it appears to have been produced with the objective of encouraging religious polarization and hostility within Kerala. He pointed out that the concept of "love jihad" has already been dismissed by investigative agencies, the judiciary, and the Ministry of Home Affairs. Despite this, he alleged that certain groups are attempting to revive the same narrative to create communal divisions once again.

According to the Chief Minister, the film is being used as a tool to damage Kerala’s reputation on an international platform. He urged the public to stand together and reject attempts by certain elements who, under the guise of cinema, are trying to defame a state that is recognized across the country for its high literacy standards.

Vijayan described "The Kerala Story 2" as a form of hateful propaganda aimed at harming the state’s image. He further stated that the movie seeks to portray Kerala as a hub of terrorism, despite its reputation as a peaceful region.

The film is scheduled for release on February 27. Both the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the opposition Congress party have expressed their objections to the film.
