Puneeth Rajkumar's wife Ashwini announced the re-release of Appu on X. The film will hit the cinemas on March 14. Sharing the poster of the film, she wrote, "Misunderstanding | Get ready to relive the magic. #Appu returns to theaters in honor of Dr. Puneeth Rajkumar's 50th birthday."
Directed by Puri Jagannadh, Appu has a screenplay written by Puri Jagannadh and dialogues penned by M. S. Ramesh and R. Rajashekhar. The film stars Puneeth alongside Rakshita, Avinash, and Hemashree in key roles. The movie revolves around a young man named Appu, who falls in love with Suchitra (Rakshita), the daughter of police commissioner Rajashekha (played by Avinash). Despite rejection and obstacles, Appu's determination to win Suchitra's love ultimately leads him to win her heart. Appu was initially released on April 26, 2002, and the film's massive success earned Puneeth the nickname 'Appu' among his fans. The Kannada superstar entered the acting industry as a child artist, credited as Master Lohith. He appeared in several Kannada films as a child actor, including Premada Kanike, Parashuram, among many others.
