Renowned music composer and Oscar winner A.R. Rahman announced his separation from his wife, Saira Banu, bringing their 29-year-long marriage to an end. Soon after this announcement, A.R. Rahman's bassist Mohini Dey made a revelation of her own. Rahman’s troupe, also announced her divorce from her husband, Mark, surprising everyone. Mohini shared this news through a social media post. The simultaneous announcements of divorces from A.R. Rahman and Mohini sparked widespread discussions. In their joint statement, Mohini and Mark cited mutual understanding as the reason for their decision, while emphasizing that they will remain good friends despite pursuing different paths in life.

The couple further expressed that moving forward separately, with mutual consent, was the best decision for them. They extended their gratitude to everyone who supported them during this phase. Mohini, a Kolkata native and a bass player, has performed with A.R. Rahman in over 40 international shows. At just 29 years old, she has gained significant recognition for her work. Meanwhile, A.R. Rahman married Saira Banu in 1995, and the couple has three children—Khatija, Raheema, and Ameen—all of whom are now married.

A.R. Rahman’s lawyer explained that despite the deep love between the couple, emotional challenges and rising tensions widened the gap in their relationship. Neither party was able to bridge this divide, leading to the difficult decision to separate. This announcement came as an emotional moment for the couple, reflecting the complexities of their marital journey.
