Chennai International Film Festival 2025 Begins Today: 12 Tamil Films, 122 Worldwide

The Chennai International Film Festival begins today and will continue until the 18th of this month. The festival features a diverse lineup, including 122 films from 51 countries, 12 Tamil-language films, and 13 awards to be presented at the closing ceremony. Screenings will take place at PVR Inox theatres.

Among the Tamil films selected are Alangu, Vembu, Mayakuttu, Marudam, Kadhal Enbadu Podu Udamai, Tourist Family, 3 BHK, and Pidiman, among others. The festival opens with the film Eagle of the Republic and concludes with EN-47.

The festival’s international lineup is equally impressive, featuring 14 films nominated for the 2026 Oscars, six Cannes award-winning films from 2025, and three winners from the Berlin International Film Festival. This year, for the first time, films from countries such as Georgia, Finland, the Philippines, Jordan, Myanmar, Nepal, Montenegro, and Saint Helena will be screened.
