Complaint Filed Against Kamal Haasan Over Kannada-Tamil Remark

Complaint against Kamal Haasan

A pro-Kannada group, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, filed a complaint with Bengaluru Police against actor-politician Kamal Haasan for stating that "Kannada was born from Tamil."

The organization, led by Praveen Shetty, was deemed offensive to Kannadigas and accused of deepening the divide between the Tamil and Kannada communities. They have demanded legal action and an FIR, though police have not yet registered one and are seeking legal advice.

Haasan's comment, made during the audio launch of his film Thug Life in Chennai, sparked widespread protests across Karnataka, including in Bengaluru, Belagavi, Mysuru, and Hubballi.

Responding to the backlash, Haasan said his statement was made with love and had no malicious intent. He emphasized that his words were based on historical context and not meant to offend anyone.
