Dhanush has expressed strong disapproval of the AI-altered climax in the re-release of his 2013 film Raanjhanaa, calling it "deeply disturbing." Talking to X, he said the alternate ending, in which his character survives, "strips the film of its soul" and was made despite his objections.

The actor warned that using AI to change film sets a dangerous precedent, threatening storytelling and artistic integrity. He called for tougher oversight to curb these kinds of actions from recurring. The film, which originally featured a tragic ending, was a modest box office success with music by AR Rahman.
