Dhanush has teamed up with director Rajkumar Periasamy for his 55th film, tentatively titled D55. Produced by Gopuram Films, details about the cast and plot are under wraps. Periasamy praised Dhanush as "a powerhouse of talent" and thanked the producers for the collaboration.

Earlier, Dhanush announced the release of his fourth directorial, Idli Kadai, on April 10, 2025, starring Nithya Menen. He is also working on multiple projects, including Kubera, Maestro, Tere Ishq Mein, and an untitled film with Mari Selvaraj. Additionally, Dhanush's Nilavukku En Mel Ennadi Kobam is set for release soon.

Meanwhile, Periasamy's Amaran, a biopic of Major Mukund Varadarajan, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, is receiving praise.
